Professor, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi

Simi Malhotra is a Professor at the Department of English and also Prof-in-Charge of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jamia Millia Islamia, a central university in New Delhi, India. She has been the Head of the Department of English and the Director of the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research at Jamia, and has more than 25 years of teaching and research experience. She has guided over 30 researches in her career.

Her areas of interest include Literary and Cultural Theory including post theoretical developments as also Culture Studies, with focus on both popular and folk cultural forms. She is the recipient of several grants and awards such as the UGC-DAAD PPP project, ASEM DUO-India Professor Fellowship, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Award, etc. She has also had a number of collaborations and academic visits to countries all across the globe and has participated in numerous conferences and seminars.

She has close to 95 publications to her credit and she is also on the Advisory Board of the Book Series on “Feminisms Past and Present” by De Gruyter Brill as also a Book Series Editor of “Popular Culture, Religion and Society” with Springer and “Postcolonialism and Religions” by Palgrave Macmillan.
