LLIDS

Language, Literature, and Interdisciplinary Studies (LLIDS)

Language, Literature, and Interdisciplinary Studies (LLIDS) is a Diamond open access, peer-reviewed, academic e-journal, aiming to provide a discursive space for relevant and meaningful investigations in the fields of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies. Committed to promote the standards of quality research, LLIDS has been conceived as a platform to engage with the existing faultlines of standard academic research through perceptive and rigorous enquiry.

Aims and Scope

LLIDS works upon four principles:

  1. Global and Inclusive Scholarship
  2. Opening scholarly discourse beyond academia
  3. Mentorship
  4. Providing Resources

Global and Inclusive Scholarship

LLIDS works in the field of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, to create an equitable ecosystem for research that brings together the diversities of scholarship from varied geographies, and to engage with all levels of scholarship.

Opening scholarly discourse beyond academia

Acknowledging the rigorous nature of research work which lends itself to a niche scholarly audience and at times tends to be abstruse and theoretical, we introduced the Forum section in the journal in 2023. The form of the Forum allows for a more immediate exploration of how research influences and is influenced by one’s particular experiences and positionalities, encouraging scholars to tease out the intricacies of theory and lived experience. It is conceived to unravel how research, the researcher’s life, and their pedagogy shape each other, by inviting a more intimate and self-reflective stance.

Mentorship

  1. Instead of only focusing on the end result, which would be the publication, the editorial team emphasizes on engagement with scholars to better their research through multiple rigorous editorial review rounds.
  2. Publishing Internship Programme – In order to give an insight into the workings of an Open Access publication and keeping with our principle of mentorship, we have been hosting a Publishing Internship Programme since our inception.
  3. Talk Series – We recently started an annual Talk Series for undergraduate and graduate scholars, with the first two-part talk titled, “Why, How, and Where to Publish Your Research?

Providing Resources

  1. Project Knowledge – The journal expanded to include another project during COVID-19 called Project Knowledge, which catalogues OA resources from around the world. At present it holds over 250 permanent resources in its database while all time-sensitive events such as conferences, lectures, webinars, etc., are posted on our social media.
  2. SCOPE – We are working on another database named SCOPE (Scholarly Conferences, Opportunities, Programmes, and Events) which would catalogue recurring scholarly events, fellowships, summer schools and other OA resources for scholars.

Language, Literature, and Interdisciplinary Studies (LLIDS) Publications

LLIDS publishes original and unpublished research work spanning the fields of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies. This covers various interrelated disciplines including, but not limited to, Literature, Philosophy, Visual Arts, Language, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Law, Ecology, Environmental Science, and Economics. The broad aim of LLIDS consists of providing an Open Access, interdisciplinary, discursive space for researchers committed to rigorous enquiry into concerns that inform critical articulations, providing new perspectives within the manifold. It attempts to fashion a reflective space that would allow researchers to collate their insights with larger issues and concerns of humanity and society, through rigorous academic inquiries that have the potential to transform the intellectual landscape.

The different Volumes published by LLIDS deal with particular themes, and the journal invites submissions through regular Call for Papers (CFPs) that can be found on the Announcements page. The individual CFPs detail the scope of the research areas for submissions. Beyond the specific themes explored within each Volume, the journal also invites Special Submissions under its General CFPs. Each submission received by LLIDS undergoes a very rigorous editorial process which includes criteria screening, peer reviews, and editorial evaluations. LLIDS follows a double-blind peer review process.

The journal publishes under five sections:

  • Theme based Research Papers
  • Theme based Forum submissions
  • Special Submissions (quality research papers on any topic in the field of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies)
  • Book Reviews (caters to academic books, non-fiction books categorized under memoirs, biographies, autobiographies, and travelogues, as well as works of fiction and poetry)
  • In Response (responses to research works published here, in order to continue the dialogue created by the published works at LLIDS)

Publication Model

As of July 2023, LLIDS has transitioned to a Continuous Publication model. This model lets us publish individual papers which have been accepted for publication. Consequently, it allows for a faster publication of papers, which is advantageous to both the authors and readers. The published papers are later on collated into Issues and Volumes. Papers published are available in the List of Published Articles on the website – https://ellids.com/

Unlike the established format of Continuous Publication model, LLIDS retains pagination for its Individual article publications. From Volume 7 onwards, each subtopic within a Volume is published under separate sections. The Volume also contains the Forum, Special Submissions, Book Reviews, and Responses. The pagination reflects the sections, such that the first section would start from page number 1.1, the second section would start from page number 2.1, and so on.

This transition to the Continuous Publication model does not affect the previous publications in any way.
